Window Films 101

In the ealy 1960's, 3M experimented with a line of energy efficient transparent tapes and invented the first modern window film, A-18. It was dark and silver and cut 80% of the glare and 70% of the heat. Today's P-18 window film, excluding a better adhesive and a scratch resistant coating, hasn't changed much in over 40 years!

Today's modern window films can cut over 50% of the sun's heat and still be virtually invisible. These films are tailor made for the gray days we have in the Pacific Northwest.

In the image to the left the glass in the door on the left is tinted and the window on the right is not.

Most 3M Scotchtint window films are also engineered to be as safe as possible for use on modern thermal pane windows.

In fact, we are so confident in the safety of our window films on this type of glass, that we will replace any glass warranty that is voided by the glass manufacturer as the result of installing our films.
